Lavomatik Session - The Redwalls - You Can't Forget Yourself

Le neveu de Julian Casablancas (chanteur des Strokes) jouait au tracteur dans le même bac à sable que le petit fils caché de John Lennon.

Lorsqu'ils atteignirent l'âge de 16 ans ils décidèrent de monter The Redwalls avec Brandon Watts, petit fils de Charlie Watts, qui venait de déménager à Chicago et de débarquer dans leur lycée.

Chacun ramena les instruments de famille et les bloc-notes de studio laissés par leurs aïeux aux caves et aux greniers.

Quelques albums, tournées américaines et Letterman Shows plus tard voici le résultat en acoustique au Lavomatik.

Imagine a band where Julian Casablancas' nephew would sing with John Lennon's grand son mixing The Rolling Stones' and Elvis Costello's styles... This is exactly what The Redwalls are: an incredible concentrate of talent and strong references.

They asked which song I wanted them to play. I answered I wanted them to play the song they'd play on a Sunday Morning 2PM sitting relax in a laundromat waiting for laundry to end. That's when they decided to play "You Cant Forget Yourself".

I also said that I liked their ClassicRock sound and that I had loved "Dont You Want To Come Out" the night before at "La Maroquinerie". They answered they had never played it acoustic but they could try it. And that is the bonus song.

Imuzzik presents - Joseph Arthur - Here Comes The Blur

We were used to be sent to space with Joseph Arthur. First with a series of fantastic albums where songs you dreamt to hear (In The Sun, Temporary People, Ashes Eveywhere, Lonely Astronaut) were surfing with ones you never expected (Creation or a Stain, Speed Of Light, Can't Exist, Take Me Home), and then live, solo with analogic clones or with its band "the Lonely Astonauts".
Now relax and let yourself be again carried away by Joseph. In a shuttle graffitied with alien heads, he sits in the roof of orbit and sings a tune that will save our soul.

Nous étions habitués à être envoyés dans l'espace avec Joseph Arthur. D'abord avec une série d'albums fantastiques, où les mélodies que l'on rêvait d'entendre (In The Sun, Temporary People, Ashes Eveywhere, Lonely Astronaut) surfait avec celle que l'on n'attendait pas (Creation or a Stain, Speed Of Light, Can't Exist, Take Me Home). Puis live, ensorcelés par des concerts solos orchestrés par des doubles analogiques, ou transportés par la puissance de son équipage les "Lonely Astronauts".

Lavomatik Session - Pacovolume - Wolves

En 3min45: laver son linge, taper des SMS sur son Samsung, jouer un futur tube 8 jours avant que l'album ne sorte, marcher dans la rue et s'arrêter pour voir des mecs jouer dans la laverie d'en bas, conduire un bus et attendre un peu pour écouter, s'allumer et s'éteindre pendant le pont.

LAvomatik Session - The Pierces - Turn On Billie

The Pierce sisters from New-York have been singing since they were little girls, when Simon&Garfunkel were teaching them harmonies from the record player. But overall, they must have been working like hell to reach this perfection. In 2 minutes in a laundromat, helped with fantastic musicians (Russell Simins, drummer of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, guitarist from Cat Power, and great violonist), the sound was just perfect, distilling the beauty of the song.

Les soeurs Pierces de New-York chantent depuis toutes petites, quand Simon&Garfunkel leur apprenait les harmonies vocales à travers la stéréo. Mais depuis, elles ont dû travailler incroyablement pour atteindre une telle perfection. En 2 minutes dans une laverie, aidées par de fantastiques musiciens (Russell Simins, le batteur de Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, le guitariste de Cat Power, et une superbe violoniste), le son était simplement parfait, distillant la beauté de leurs compositions.
