Lavomatik Session - Ben Kweller - Things I Like To Do

I had the dream to one day film Ben Kweller in a Lavomatik Session. It was at the beginning of December, and he was in France for one evening. Just off a long road for a few minutes, he was ready to sing, like it seems he would be any minute of its life.
Little Bens started drums at the age of 7, formed a grunge band Radish at 12, signed a contract with a major at 14, and released at 27, two weeks ago its 5th solo album.
He told me that when he was a teengager he came with Radish for a tour in France. They made photos of the band in a laundromat and climbed inside the machine.
He took his guitar out of a case and I asked if he didn't mind playing straight forward the trip.
He answered that was why he was here for, and started to play. Me too always thought that hewas here to play.
The camera was on and I filmed. I felt like shooting a Blogothéque Take-Away Show, so I silently dedicated this session to them editing the session.
In the laundromat, he played a Dylan song while I was setting up mics and cams, and that reminds me that both of them moved to New-York City when they were young to find their own way to music.
He chose to play "Things I Like To Do", a song from its new album. Interpreted with his friend from childhood on Dobro, there was all Ben Kweller in these 2 minutes. Where he was from, where he was back, where he had been, what he had done and most of all what he had liked. And in in the middle of the list of what he liked, he added this: "playing in the laundromat".

J'ai toujours rêvé de pouvoir un jour rencontrer Ben Kweller. C'était un mois de Décembre et il passait par la France pour un soir seulement. Débarqué devant la salle quelques minutes plutôt après une longue route et les embouteillages parisiens, il était déjà prêt à chanter, comme il semblait qu'il soit prêt à jouer chaque minute de sa vie.
Le petit Ben a commencé la musique par la batterie à l'âge de 7 ans, a formé un groupede grunge à 12 ans, signé un contrat avec une major à 14 ans, et sortait il y a 2 semaines à 27 ans son 5ième album solo.
Dans le hall de l'Européen, il me raconte un photoshoot à Paris avec son premier groupe Radish. Ils s'étaient rendus dans une laverie et étaient montés dans les machines. Il me prévient qu'il ne le refera probablement pas.
Il sort la guitare de la flightcase, et je lui demande si cela ne le dérange d'enchaîner sans pose depuis la voiture. Il me répond qu'il est ici pour cela. Moi aussi j'avais toujours eu l'impression qu'il était ici pour jouer...
Puis il se mit à jouer. La caméra était allumée alors j'ai filmé. J'avais l'impression de filmer un Concert à Emporter de la Blogothèque. Alors au montage je leur ai dédicacé silencieusement cette session.
Pendant que j'installais micros et caméras, Ben chantait une chanson de Dylan. Cela m'a rappelé que tous les deux avaient déménagé à New-York pour trouver leur propre chemin.
Pour la session, il choisit d'interpréter avec son ami d'enfance au Dobro, "Things I Like To Do" tirée de son nouvel album. Dans ces 2 minutes il y avait tout Ben Kweller. D'où il venait, où il était revenu, où il avait été, ce qu'il avait fait, et plus que tout, tout ce qu'il aimait. Et dans la liste de ce qu'il aimait, il a ajouté une chose: "jouer dans un Lavomatik".
