Lavomatik Session - I'm From Barcelona - Gunhild

Sometimes you think that it could be great to have a party with all of your friends, where friends from work could meet the one from childhood, from tennis, and from the year abroad in Spain. That's the kind of thought Emanuel Lundgren had when he founded I'm From Barcelona inviting all of his friends to join in. They ended up being 29, playing and singing joyful and funny songs that could be stuck in your head in 20 seconds ("Treehouse", "Glasses"). They released an EP "Sing" followed by the first album "Let Me Introduce My Friends", and toured all around the world. Two years later, they are all back with a new album, "Who Killed Harry Houdini?". Still universal but more intimate, the album have the same beauty on the nostalgic side. Eman came alone and sings the beautiful song "Gunhild" at the Lavomatik. He chose this song because "it needs noise in the background", which he definitely found! On the album version, it is a printer in the background. Here in Paris, it is the dryer rolling like crazy, cars honking, and the regular rumble of the washing machine.

Mariée Sioux - Flowers & Blood

Here is another session with Mariée Sioux. We shot the same evening as the Lavomatik Session in the little Laundromat in Montmartre. Not far from there, going up after les Abesses, I had seen the previous Week-End this antique shop full with church and railway station clocks. I thought that Mariée had an intemporal print in her songs and clocks would fit perfectly with the time maze she creates.

Big thanks to the Landlord of the shop Zut!, 5 rue de Ravignan, 75018 Paris.
