Lavomatik Session - Chad VanGaalen - Molten Light

I never edited a session so quickly... we shot last Wednesday, but the session was so amazing that I had to publish it as soon as possible so people could not miss him in Paris tonight, and England, Scotland, Ireland and Sweden in the coming days.

In an interview given to magazin Exclaim, Chad VanGaalen said how amazed he was of the power of mind and music working together, and how music was able to give life to any corner of your imagination, like a squid with a Zeus beard.

In this session, Zeus plays accordeon and Chad and its flying voice takes us to its mysterious land.

Lavomatik Session - Joan As Policewoman - Eternal Flame

I had met Joan Wasser before only on my CD player, listening for hours to Joan As Policewoman's first album Real Life. When I saw her live for the first time I was hit by the fact that she was one of the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.

What was so fantastic was how music seemed to fill her soul, hands, heart, voice and whole body.

Later I learnt how much it also filled her life... started piano at 6, violin at 8, played with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, performed live and recorded on studio with Lou Reed, Dave Gahan, Anthony&TheJohnsons, Rufus Wainwright, Joseph Arthur and many others. In 1997, her boyfriend called Jeff Buckley drown accidentally in Memphis. She played with the Dambuilders, and formed Joan As Policewoman in 2005 releasing since then two great albums, "Real Life", and "To Survive".

This session was shot last June, on a warm and sunny lunch break near Maison de la Radio.
Joan was a bit mad at me because the guitar I brought had no strap and strings were strong as a bow.
The washing machine sounded like hell, and Joan played "Eternal Flame".

She is on tour (tonight in Brussel, tomorrow, November 19th in Paris, then Switzerland, Italy, UK, US,...) and if you're around you must not miss it.

Lavomatik Session - Marianne Dissard - Flashback

Marianne is french but she lives Tucson Arizona, so she plays beautiful ballads like people have done there for centuries, but she sings in french.
This one we present, like its guitarist Clay Koweek says at the end, "is about girls and boys, and both being soaking wet, and there is a season and there is a reason...".
Co-written and produced by Joey Burns from Calexico, the album is filled with glam songs warm like a lovers night in a Motel.
They are on tour now, in France, in Paris at la Fleche D'Or tonight, and then Nantes, Toulouse, Montpellier, before continuing to Italy, US, and Canada. They will be back in Europe in February/March with Francoiz Breut. All dates are here.
